You are to assume the role of human resources manager for Boardwalk Eats, a restaurant chain with 15 locations, all on popular coastlines. The owner of the chain has asked you for advice on how to best market employment opportunities to teenagers.
All 15 Boardwalk Eats locations are on popular coastline boardwalks that are tourist destinations during the summer months. The restaurants are only open May through October, so traditionally only teenagers have been attracted to the job openings.
Fewer teenagers are holding summer jobs than in the past. In 2006 over half of all teenagers held summer jobs, but last summer only a third of teens were employed during the summer. This has put a large strain on hiring for Boardwalk Eats. Teenagers admitted to spending more time studying for college entrance exams and readying for college rather than holding a summer job.
With the summer months approaching, the owner wants you to describe planning techniques and marketing functions that can be used to attract teenagers to work at Boardwalk Eats. The owner also wants to know how the managers of each Boardwalk Eats location can market employment opportunities before the locations open for the season.
