DECA Month takes place every November, offering members a chance to celebrate all things DECA. Each day features a DECA-related challenge for members to complete and share online. But how can college students make the most of it?
Here’s how to participate in the Collegiate way:
Make a Plan
The DECA Month calendar is typically released in October, giving you time to prepare. Review the challenges and consider how to approach them. A good strategy is to create a content plan—whether that means jotting down video ideas or mapping out social media designs. With daily challenges throughout the month, staying consistent is key to keeping up with the campaign.
Add a College Twist
Some challenges may seem more suited for high school members, but that’s an opportunity for creativity. There’s no one "right" way to complete a DECA Month challenge, so take advantage of your unique collegiate experience.
For instance, in DECA Month 2023, “Day 2: Tour of Your DECA Classroom” could be tricky for collegiate chapters without a dedicated classroom. A creative solution might be highlighting the variety of locations your chapter uses for events and meetings.
Collaborate with Fellow Members
You don’t have to tackle DECA Month alone. The best way to celebrate is by teaming up with your chapter or collaborating with other chapters and associations. During the planning phase, connect with your DECA peers to brainstorm ideas for joint content. If your chapter attends any conferences during November, that’s a great time to capture group content in person. You can also bring in non-DECA peers to help, which can introduce new students to the organization.
