Johnson & Wales University (JWU) DECA continues demonstrating its commitment to leadership and service by giving back to the local community. Over the past two semesters, members have dedicated their time and resources to supporting those in need through various initiatives.
One of the most impactful efforts included a clothing drive for people without housing, where students gathered and distributed essential items to individuals facing hardships. As temperatures dropped in Rhode Island, these donations provided warmth and relief to those experiencing homelessness.
Additionally, JWU DECA partnered with Amos House, a well-respected nonprofit organization that supports individuals struggling with poverty, homelessness and addiction. Volunteers assisted with meal preparation, organization and outreach efforts, helping to create a welcoming and supportive environment for those seeking assistance.
Spreading holiday cheer was also a priority, as members crafted Christmas cards for children, bringing joy to young hearts during the festive season. These heartfelt messages of encouragement and love served as a reminder that even small gestures can have a profound impact.
“Our goal isn’t just to excel in business but to make a difference in our community,” said a JWU DECA representative. “Through these initiatives, we’re helping others and learning the importance of leadership, compassion and service.”
JWU DECA remains dedicated to fostering a culture of social responsibility and encourages students to get involved in future service projects. As the semester progresses, the organization looks forward to uplifting and supporting the Providence community.
