In today's world, women in business are breaking traditional boundaries, driving a transformative shift in global economies. Their diverse perspectives, innovative ideas and unique leadership styles are crucial to business success. The growing presence of women in leadership is not only about equity; it’s an economic necessity that benefits society as a whole.
When men and women collaborate on leadership teams, creativity and problem-solving thrive. Research shows that companies with diverse leadership consistently outperform those without it. Women in leadership bring empathy and teamwork, creating well-rounded strategies that lead to long-term success.
Studies from McKinsey & Company and the International Monetary Fund link gender diversity to financial growth. According to McKinsey & Company’s report "Delivering through Diversity" (2018), companies with higher gender diversity on executive teams were 21% more likely to outperform on profitability. The International Monetary Fund’s research, "The Economic Gains from Gender Inclusion" (2019), found that closing the gender gap in labor markets could boost GDP by an average of 35% in many countries. Businesses led by women often see higher profits and economies with more women in the workforce experience greater resilience and success.
Simply put—diversity pays off.

Kate Stevens, 2023-2024 Chapter VP of Marketing at Stephens College, shares how growing up in a household full of strong female figures profoundly influenced her.
“My mother, in particular, was an incredible role model. She taught me from a young age that hard work always pays off. When she started at a very entry-level job at a local community college, I saw firsthand her dedication to building her career. Today, she is the VP of Finance at Stephens College. Watching her progress, brick by brick, is something I'll never forget, and it continues to inspire me.”
Kate explains how her mother’s work ethic, dedication and commitment shaped her values, teaching her to embrace challenges, say “yes” to opportunities, and stand firm in her beliefs. She notes, “Having a role model to look up to has been invaluable in shaping who I am today.” Kate’s story is a testament to the transformative impact of representation and mentorship, which fuel ambition and empower women to strive for success.
