The Ultimate Recap of the 2024 Power Trip

Nov 19, 2024

Over 2,500 members and advisors (the most EVER) gathered this past weekend in Charlotte, North Carolina, for the Ultimate DECA Power Trip. The Queen City, home to national banking corporations, numerous sports teams and NASCAR was the perfect backdrop for the weekend.

Filled with Leadership and Learning Labs, the Competitive Excellence Experience – Sponsored by Adobe and a VERY memorable DECA After Dark at the NASCAR Hall of Fame, members from across the globe had the opportunity to grow as leaders and network with others doing the same.

Let’s hear from some members who were able to Be The One in Charlotte.

From Our Hosts

“North Carolina DECA Association Officer Team 81 was thrilled to host everyone in the Queen City for the Ultimate DECA Power Trip! We hope Charlotte's unique, rich history and modern culture blend created an incredible conference experience. From the NASCAR Hall of Fame to the Charlotte Hornets' buzzer-beater win, we can't wait to have you back in the Queen City for more memorable experiences!” - Ram Petluri: NC DECA President

Leadership Labs

“The opportunity to run and lead a Leadership Lab Workshop was an absolute honor and an amazing experience. It was incredible to meet people from across the organization, coming together to have fun doing what DECA members love most: competing! Being in a room filled with Louisiana to Columbia members was empowering and inspiring. I felt truly privileged to stand before them and teach about the remarkable marketing and teamwork skills every member brings. I hope everyone learned something knowledgeable and helpful while having an amazing time because I know that Kentucky DECA did!” - Houston Porter: KY DECA President

Learning Labs

“Running a Learning Lab at Power Trip was an incredibly rewarding experience that I will undoubtedly reflect on for years to come. After nearly a year of designing, printing, and planning, my chapter ran an activity centered around a DECA test-prep board game: DECAland. While this served as an exciting opportunity to develop my leadership and presentation skills, my key takeaway from this event was the importance of teamwork. Facilitating an activity of this magnitude requires the constructive collaboration of all group members. I was fortunate enough to be blessed with an unbelievably driven and remarkable team whom I could not have succeeded without. Cooperation and reliance on others are fundamental to achievement in all aspects of DECA. I’m eternally grateful for the opportunity to discover this during my Leadership Lab at this year’s Power Trip." - Wilsey Zahner: Tolland High School DECA President

Competitive Excellence Experience

“Power Trip was the ultimate DECA experience! The workshops and speakers were inspiring, and I learned a lot while having a great time! Competing gave me the confidence to tackle competition season, with valuable judge feedback and practice that made me feel ready to succeed!” - Emily Jacobs: Michigan DECA
“Competing at Power Trip was exhilarating, to say the least. I personally have always competed in a team event so this was my first time competing solo! It truly was a great opportunity for growth. Marketing has always been my passion, so I incorporated my prior knowledge into the case study. I am honored to have been given a medal for my role play, and my love and success within DECA continue to help me grow as a State Officer and a person!” - Sairah Chacko: TN DECA President

DECA After Dark

“DECA After Dark was an amazing experience. I could meet old friends and create new ones, allowing me to make memories that stick with me forever. Exploring the NASCAR Hall of Fame was very fun as well; I’ve been into cars for a while, and being able to participate in their games, such as the racing simulator, pit stop activity, etc., only made my interest in cars greater. It was a night filled with laughter, learning, and unforgettable moments that truly captured the spirit of DECA.” - Nripesh Dahal: John Champe High School DECA

This incredible weekend gave us everything we need to lead this year in DECA. We cannot wait to see you in 2025 in the Washington D.C. area for next year's Ultimate DECA Power Trip!
